Although the initial program will be for students in Idaho, it will be followed by a nationwide rollout early next year.
The goal was to start with one grade level per school, and 3rd grade is the optimum grade for this program based on reading and comprehension levels. However, additional grades are welcome to participate.
A group of Deputy Fire Marshals got together and created a list of fire hazards that kids would recognize in their own homes. They determined that if these hazards were presented in a visual and interactive learning style, retention rates would soar. City firefighters then tested this program in multiple third grade classrooms and discovered that retention rates soared and the students had a great time learning! The Fire Safety Junior Storybook is the result of this study. The realistic illustrations and app activities present critical safety information in a way that’s both fun and memorable.
